Our CBD for dogs is made through a rigorous CO2 extraction process, derived from Industrial Hemp Oil, extracted exclusively from mature stalks and stems.
CBD (cannabidiol), is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant, has gained significant attention for its potential health benefits for our pets! Here are some ways in which CBD can benefit dogs and cats:
Anxiety and Stress Reduction: Dogs can experience anxiety and stress due to various factors such as separation, thunderstorms, or vet visits. And often rescues come to us with residual traumas and are always on edge. CBD has anxiolytic properties, which means it can help calm anxious dogs by affecting serotonin receptors in the brain.
Pain Relief: CBD is known for its analgesic properties. It can help alleviate various types of pain in dogs, whether it's due to arthritis, injuries, surgery, or chronic conditions.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Inflammation is a common issue in dogs due to a variety of health conditions, and especially in their old age. CBD's anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce swelling, improve mobility, and enhance the overall comfort of your pet.
Allergies/Skin Conditions: CBD's anti-inflammatory properties can help improve skin conditions in dogs, such as allergies or dry skin. This, in turn, contributes to a healthier coat.
Seizure Management: CBD has been used to manage and reduce the frequency and severity of seizures in dogs suffering from epilepsy. It's considered a promising alternative for dogs that don't respond well to traditional anti-seizure medications.
Appetite Stimulation: In cases where a dog's appetite is reduced due to illness or medication, CBD may help stimulate their appetite. This can be particularly helpful for dogs recovering from surgery or undergoing chemotherapy.
Nausea and Vomiting Control: CBD can help reduce nausea and vomiting in dogs, whether it's caused by motion sickness or a side effect of other medications.
Improved Sleep: Just like in humans, CBD can help regulate sleep patterns in dogs. This can be especially beneficial for older dogs or those with sleep disturbances.
Cognitive Decline: Can reduces late-day anxiety and agitation (sundowning), help prevent the evening “spikes” in restlessness or irritability, and can make nighttime transitions smoother.
Mood: Can enhance mood and aid in depression.
Overall Well-Being: CBD supports the endocannabinoid system, which plays a crucial role in maintaining balance and homeostasis in the body. This means that, in addition to specific benefits, CBD can contribute to an overall sense of well-being for your dog.
Non-Psychoactive: It's important to note that CBD is non-psychoactive, which means it doesn't produce the "high" associated with THC. This makes it safe for dogs and unlikely to cause adverse side effects when used in appropriate dosages.

Thanks to the Endocannabinoid System (which us humans and our canine friends have), CBD (Cannabinoids) influences specific receptors in the brain, body and immune system, which triggers them to regulate some of the most critical bodily functions. It works like a key in a lock, the CBD fits perfectly and activates those receptors! And the incredible part is that dogs have SO many more receptors than we do, making CBD even more effective on them!
CBD is generally very safe and well tolerated by dogs and cats! CBD is non-addictive and carries no risk of overdose and causes no withdrawal symptoms. CBD may cause some minor side effects - see our dosing page for more information. It is not recommended to take CBD with some medications, especially blood thinners and SSRI's. Some pets with existing liver issues may not be able to take CBD. Talk to your vet before introducing any new wellness products to their diet.
If your dog has allergies or skin conditions and you don't know the cause, we suggest using the Oils just in case they have an allergy to an ingredients in the treats. Otherwise, it's really about what's more convenient for you! With the treats, it's easy to administer, you know you're giving the right dose, you're more likely to remember to give it to them, plus they get a wholesome, homemade treat out of it!
As for the oils, you get more bang for your buck - just slightly less convenient than a treat. Drop it directly into their mouth, on their food or even rub it into the inside flap of their ears. You can also adjust the dose more precisely according to your pet's needs and it's easier to increase the dose if needed. They also may get slightly faster relief by placing it under their tongue, if time is an issue!
In the beginning: Yes — daily use helps CBD build up in your pet’s system, and it may take 2–4 weeks before you see the full benefits.
For ongoing issues (like arthritis): Daily dosing (often split into morning and evening) works best for steady support.
For occasional needs (like groomer visits or thunderstorms): After the initial build-up phase, you can give CBD as needed. If there’s been a long gap without use, a few days of consistent dosing may be needed again to get the best effect.
Every dog and cat will be different. You may get lucky and see a noticeable difference within 15 minutes, the very first time you give to them, and for some it takes time to build up in their system, usually not taking more than a full month. If you don't see an improvement, you can increase to a stronger dose.
You may need a little patience and adjusting of dosage. Feel free to reach out to us and we can help give some tips! We can help assess the situation when we know more information about your specific case. info@SerenityBowWow.com
