How does my pet need?

First, determine how much your dog (or cat!) weighs. The CBD dosage for dogs actually depends on various factors, including metabolism, tolerance, the condition you're treating, its severity, and individual body chemistry. You'll need to find what works best for YOUR pet, but to start, you can refer to the CBD dosing chart based on their weight.

Start off LOW (half a regular dose, if possible) for the first 3-4 days, then gradually increase to a regular dose. Administering too much too quickly can lead to stomach upset, nausea, or diarrhea. Consistency is key; give CBD for pets daily. Everyday use helps CBD build up in your pet’s system, and it may take 2–4 weeks before you see the full benefits. If you don't notice results after 3-4 weeks, consider moving up to a stronger dose.

For ongoing issues (like arthritis or skin conditions), daily dosing (often split into morning and evening) is most effective for steady support.

For occasional needs (like anxiety during groomer visits or thunderstorms), you can give CBD as needed after the initial build-up phase. If there's been a long gap without use, a few days of consistent dosing may be necessary again for optimal effect. When treating situational anxiety, you can typically expect effects within 30 minutes, though it can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours.

Keep in mind, if you still don't see an improvement at a strong dose, it's safe to increase the dosage further. Cornell University studies have shown that even 4mg per 1.1 lbs (8mg per 1kg) had no visible negative side effects.

Possible Side Effects:

CBD can interact with blood thinners, SSRIs, and some other medications. Always talk to your vet before giving CBD for pets. Our treats are not recommended for dogs with pancreatitis. Although CBD itself is beneficial for this condition, the ingredients in our biscuits and oil bottles may not be ideal.

CBD is non-addictive and carries no risk of overdose, nor does it cause withdrawal symptoms. However, overconsumption may lead to nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting.

Dry mouth is a common side effect, so keep an eye on their water bowl, as they may drink more than usual.

Drowsiness could occur, indicating that your dog’s body is sensitive to CBD. In such cases, you can refer to a CBD dosing chart to adjust to a lighter dose.

Lowered blood pressure is another consideration; CBD can cause a temporary drop in your dog’s blood pressure, particularly if given in high doses, resulting in light-headedness and dizziness. You can remedy this by reducing the dosage.

If your dog experiences diarrhea, consider reducing the dosage or stopping CBD altogether, as it may be caused by an ingredient in the treat that is new to them.

An upset stomach can occur with any new food or medication, including CBD for pets. To minimize the risk of stomach upset, it's advisable to start with small amounts and gradually increase the CBD dosage for dogs as their body adjusts to the new supplement.

Additionally, some dogs may experience an increased appetite.

Dogs with pre-existing liver conditions should be monitored by a veterinarian, as CBD can occasionally cause a temporary increase in liver enzymes.

CAT TREATS: Best if given all at once for situational anxiety or nausea on car rides, etc. but for chronic conditions (arthritis, skin issues), split the dose into two, helping the effects last throughout the day.

As with any new supplement, especially CBD for pets, it's advisable to consult your vet before starting, particularly if your pet has a serious health condition or is taking other medications. Note on CBD dosage for dogs: For convenience, this chart uses 250 mg increments to align with our pre-measured droppers. While the CBD dosing chart may not be exact for every weight, it falls within a safe and effective range for most dogs. These are gentle, well-tolerated mushrooms, and slight variations in daily intake are generally not a concern.
